Policies affect education. 2. Diversity is great only if individual/group cultural norms and practices fit under a greater umbrella of norms and practices. Of course, this means there's some flexibility on both sides. (Sometimes parts of the "greater umbrella" ain't so great.) 3. Diversity doesn't translate into any one group receiving preferential treatment over another. And with #3 comes the need to develop resilience and resourcefulness among ALL people. 4. "Newer" systems will eventually feel the impact of a changing culture as the nation changes. So school systems should learn from MCPS by practicing #2 and 3. [/quote]
