If someone answers, they try to sell them something, or they act lost. It’s pretty much the definition of casing the joint. It’s especially dangerous for kids who are home alone and have been told to not answer the door when they don’t know the person. Then a burglary turns into a home invasion.[/quote] OK but there is zero reason to believe that this is what this kid was doing.[/quote] ^ And even if he had been "casing the joint" & planning on robbing them later on & they someone were able to know this, it still wouldn't have justified shooting him as he was not physically threatening them & they were not in any immediate danger. In the unlikely event they actually had reason to believe he was planning to come back & rob them, they should have informed the police of their suspicions, not shot him. [/quote]
