She was basically on pace with her peers when she started K in public school, reading some very, very simple books. One issue (which may be more the transition to K-5 school) was that the self-directed work at Montessori didn't translate well to K, where kids had to sit still much longer and couldn't choose what they wanted to do.

And what does DD remember from all this? One of the teachers falling off a chair and hurting her foot![/quote]
