+1.  OP, don't coddle. If he is depressed - take him to see a therapist every week and ask if a medication will be right for him.

Don't be lenient and make excuses - you don't want to be that mother 5 years down the road with a deer in the headlights look on her face when she finds out he is on drugs.  These boys are bad influence. Your child is on his way to be a lying defiant felon. Nobody but parents can put him on the straight and narrow. Team husband here.[/quote]
