Its a boy.  I would never leave him home alone nor does he want to stay along.  We are traveling and together during the day.  We keep a home phone but if child was alone at all, I would absolutely give them a phone.  For the little cost, it gives me peace of mind.  The phone isn't the issue. Safari wouldn't be on the phone.  Simple.  We don't have it on his iPad either.  We also heavily monitor what he's doing.  He doesn't have the password for the app store.[/quote]
