This is a cultural paradigm.  Most people who live in socialist countries are ok with high taxes and lower salaries for the good of the people.   In America, it's always been "I", "me", the "individual", so most people aren't willing to sacrifice for the greater good.   We are also much more materialistic than most of the socialist countries; our economy is driven by consumerism.  Our mantra is "It's never enough, and greed is good".[/quote]

Please list some great inventions from socialist countries. Capitalism drives the awesome research and advances in this country. You seem to be the same poster over and over based on the writing and you seem to be foreign. What brought you here if it's so awful and everyone is so greedy? [/quote]
