Not this nonsense again. Doctors make far less than lawyers and investment bankers, while it is harder to get into medical school than law or business, and training is at least five years longer. Nurses and physician's assistants also make decent money relative to years of training. Guess why? There is huge demand for their sevices Health care is a business -- the people actually doing the hard work should be compensated. If you want to complain about the injustices of our health care system, it is appropriate to look at how much is paid for health care administration, and to the various C level folks running insurance and pharmaceutical companies. And, of course, OP, you are welcome to take your business to the lowest cost healthcare provider.
+100 Not to mention the stress of the job. I know of two residents who committed suicide. No other profession that I'm aware of has had to pass a rule to limit work weeks to 80 hours. Your lawyer has a bad day at work and may lose a case. Your surgeon has a bad day and you're paralyzed. Surgeons get calls in the middle of the night if something goes wrong. Does your investment banker return your call at 2 am when you realize the dow plummeted?
Doctors make far more than lawyers on average, and for good reason. But why the need to pretend that they earn less and are not compensated fairly? That’s the greed factor.
I don't see anywhere people said doctors weren't compensated fairly. What I do see is people defending the salaries because, you know, the OP called them greedy.
OP just remarked that people in the US always want more, more, more. And sorry, that’s true, whether for doctors or anyone else. Greed is our culture and it is destroying everything.
I am sure there are plenty making less and less than you or your spouse. Why don't you make an example for everyone by pledging for no pay raise?
Wah wah wah. Why can’t you make a cogent point instead of attacking the person you disagree with?
