Lack of low-quality low-income housing in Mclean districting. Lack of apartments that allow 2, 3 illegal immigrant families to cram into the bedrooms and result in severe over-crowding in schools. Lots of parents who are professionals who are themselves intelligent which is largely a product of genetic inheritance.
Because the BOS forces these apartments into other neighborhoods while leaving Mclean/Langley mostly single family.
Yup. I'm a relative newbie. Why do they do this?
No metro, so no dense building.
The West Falls Church and Spring Hill Metro stations are both in the McLean HS district. The Dunn Loring, McLean, Tysons and Greensboro stations are all in the Marshall HS district.
West Falls Church's immediate vicinity is Falls Church City and Rt66. Dunn Loring is not in McLean's district and it is getting built up in the past 5 years or so. McLean, Tyson's, Greensboro and Springhill are at the edges of McLean and are new. There are apartment buildings being built now. Most of McLean was built up when Fairfax was still more of a rural county. That makes it more expensive for developers to build denser projects. It is easier to build where the land is cheaper. MHS does have 8-10% free and reduced lunch recipients and some come from the areas that you mention.
