My birthday just passed and I have been direct with him for years that, just as I bake him a cake, it’s nice if he gets me one as well. He came home on my bday with takeout, and my 4 y/o son innocently asked where the cake was (even he knows it’s a tradition for everyone to have a cake on their birthday) and he was like “daddy can’t do everything!” All out of breath like he was a superhero for getting takeout.

There are posters on here who act like it’s wrong to want ANYTHING for yourself, which is the story we have been fed as wives and mothers for generations. And it’s bullshit.  You have a right to be taken care of, OP.  [/quote]
