Yeah, me too. I think clearly they weren't mailed on Friday, since no one seems to have received notice yet, (I'm discounting the poster who claimed there was an acquaintance who was notified). So maybe it won't even be this week!
Ugh. I am the poster who wrote about the child who got in both. The child is an URM and has all the societal disadvantages that you can possibly think of. The Principal of the ES called and informed this child and the mom told me today that they got a letter too. Why would they lie? For God's Sake PEOPLE!!! BTW - the ES is not a HGC. Only a few kids got in from that school and the Principal is aware who got in. Sheesh!!! Also, I am an Asian with kids in test-in magnet program, and I actually like the fact they are doing universal testing. I have guided this person from the time her child entered MCPS and she has done very well in listening to the advice. Her child is flourishing. Now the only thing that I am worrying about is that this child will need access to a computer at home if she wants to be successful in MSCS at TPMS.
I wasn't actually suggesting that a family lied to an honest DCUM poster about getting in. I was expressing skepticism when the only person posting about acceptance news wasn't posting just to let other parents to know that the acceptances were out, but had a political point to make, given that no other letters had been received. Your additional report that the first news came through a phone call from a principal makes the story more plausible. Not sure what to make of the report that the family also received a letter, given no other letters have been reported, unless certain families are being treated differently even by the Central Office, not just the principal. I think it's always good to have a healthy amount of skepticism when reading anonymous posts.
