There is defense of f this person. Seems the pp was trying to protect you
She doesn’t want the pervert to be labeled a “pervert”. That’s protecting the pervert. She has no interest in protecting me as she has engaged in repeated attacks on me both here and elsewhere. Given how much effort she devotes to criticizing my every move, including calling out an admitted pervert, I am always astonished that she continues using DCUM.
Let me be perfectly clear: As an IT person myself, I don't understand of your style of moderation. I believe when you run a site where your bread and butter is ensuring anonymity, exposing people you do not like to the general public in the forum is not wise. You do not know how far others will take things because you can't ensure the mental fitness of every poster. Furthermore, when you engage in name calling and accusations, you open yourself up for criticism. I've stated before and will state again that my statements against your behavior on forum do not extend to you personally and/or professionally. I don't know you and respect you for having built this business into what it is. Entrepreneurship is to be rewarded. My 'beef', if it can be called that, is in the interest of fairness and respect towards your fellow posters on your forum - I think you lack both.
Look, I'm an IT person as well. I'm a system administrator who has created web-sites and moderated other fora (albeit years ago). I understand Jeff's position and am perfectly fine with it. When you moderate, you don't always have a perfectly documentable justice system that is completely fair to everyone. Just like when you parent, you sometimes have to adjust the justice system to personalities of the children. What works as a fair system for the Smith family with 4 girls and 2 boys ranging from 6-16 will not always work for the Jones family who have 3 boys under 5. Jeff moderates a forum that is more white than minority, more UMC/affluent than middle class, and significantly more liberal than conservative. He has to find a way to make this environment comfortable for the self-selecting and disproportionate demographics that comprise his primary customer base. That means chasing out the rabble-rousers and trouble-makers. Trouble makers like our rather juvenile troll really do nothing to increase his user base and in many ways chase away users who don't want to have to sift through as much noise to find the signal. It also chases away many posters who would otherwise become more devoted posters. So, it serves a good purpose to have an unbalanced justice system if it can chase away the trouble makers. As a private system and business owner, Jeff does not owe a perfectly balanced and fair system to everyone. He does owe them an environment where they can feel that they can feel comfortable to participate. Discouraging those who interfere with that atmosphere is a benefit and a shrewd choice to ensure his product and system continue to grow.
