If you live near Dulles it makes more sense to fly
OP here. This is what I'm thinking. It's so easy for someone to just drop us at the airport, vs. getting down to Union Station. Even though we'd have to get to the airport early, it would take about the same amount of time just to drive down to Union Station, with traffic, etc. I'm thinking we'll just fly and uber in to the city from the airport.
Makes sense. For us it takes at least an hour to get to Dulles, plus you need to be there well before the flight, etc. Whereas, it takes us 15 minutes to get to Union Station, half an hour if we metro and save the cost of parking; and last time, our family arrived, parked, and walked right onto the train 7 minutes before it pulled out of the station. Plus, the kids are half price on the train, which the airlines do not offer. Huge difference for us in time and money.
