Five year renewable visas entitling them to stay and work. Renewal subject to not having a criminal record and not being a charge to the public. If they serve in the military for a predetermined period they would receive permanent status and a pathway to citizenship.
This is what some in the GOP want. It’s cruel and heartless. If they lose a job, they get deported? No efffing way that flies.
Nothing cruel about it. They are being given the right to work and stay but need to remain free of any criminal record. No automatic right to permanent residence or citizenship unless they serve in the military.
You missed that part about being a public charge. It’s cruel. This plan creates second class citizens and as such will be rejected.
But they are not citizens, and never should be. They arrived here illegally. No voting privileges. No welfare. No told stamps. No subsidized housing. They need to be self-supporting, and contributing to society. If they want all the privileges that come with full citizenship, then they have to do it legally - as have millions of legal immigrants. They can return to their native country with their oarents, and apply. Their choice.
