Haven't received winter results yet, and I'm not inclined to give the exact number. I will say it was greater than 550 on the math test.
Score >=493 will put your DC in 99 percentile.
So I'm correct in thinking that he will be bored out of his mind in AAP math.
Does it state on his iready report that he is above grade in math? Either way I think iready math can not be compared with AAP
Well, obviously it does. It shows him as being significantly above grade level. If he has already mastered the concepts that his AAP peers still need to learn, I don't see how he wouldn't be bored out of his mind. The iready score is consistent with a several other math metrics, so it's not like the score is a random blip.
There is no significantly above grade. Top grade provided is 'Above grade'. Your basing this on assumption that his AAP peers does not know! AAP starts in Grade 3 so his peers most likely will catch up if they have not already. In other words your DC having above grade Math in 2nd grade is relevant only in current year. He maybe bored although I find it amusing when parents claim this! He will need to be above grade in 3rd AAP iReady test for being bored if at all (not math in AAP will be far more advanced)! Most kids who are in pool due to high Cogat/NNAT are also academically advanced (ahead in grade) and receive level II AAP service in reading and math. They generally score above grade in iReady (this forum is full of threads about it). Most have high DRA 24-28 at the end of first grade. Some school even test the child for DRA > 28 (third grade level ). My DC school does not. I can't comment on MRA since they are never given out in KG and 1st grade.
"Significantly above grade level" meaning that the bar showing where my child is relative to the "on grade level" band extends 50+ points above the top of that band. Sheesh. I was hoping that some kids might have comparable scores, such that my child might have a math peer group in AAP. But if the PP is correct that 493 = 99th percentile, it is unlikely that many of his AAP classmates will even be in the same ballpark. I don't think he will be bored at all with the language arts side of AAP.
