If a Girl Scout actually asks me, I buy. This year, I got an email from a Girl Scout that I knew through church, and I ordered from her. Some of the other girls, their moms "mentioned" it, but I didn't buy from them. If no one asks in a year, then I'll buy a box or two from the groups set up at the grocery store. Boy Scouts, have to step up their game, though. That popcorn is a complete ripoff. I bought one bag this year because a neighborhood boy knocked on the door. But it was $15 for a regular grocery store-sized bag of popcorn! At least the Girl Scouts only hit you up for $4-5.
Selling popcorn was the worst part of scouting. DS was always so eager to go and sell it and did the speech well, but it’s too expensive because so much does go back to the Scouts. It’s basically a donation and you get a bag of popcorn on the side. It would be worth joining a Mormon troop just because they don’t sell popcorn.
