It isn't part of religious Judaism, but it is at this point a part of American Jewish cultural tradition. I was in NYC over the holiday where plenty of non-Chinese restaurants were open, but I still wanted to do Chinese because that is what I associate with the holiday. Similarly, years ago I spent the holiday in a non-Christian country, but still sought out Chinese that night out of a sense of tradition. Having said that, the idea that it is cultural appropriation, or otherwise improper, for others to have Chinese on Christmas is ridiculous.[/quote]
