You don’t need to pay tuition. MCPS does not require proof of anything - they are not allowed to because we have a large population of kids who may lack appropriate documentation. You can use a friend’s address who lives in bounds. Much cheaper than trying to figure out a way to pay tuition! Or just offer to pay someone to use their address. We have quite a few kids at our ES and MS who do not live in boundary. They use family members’ or friends’ addresses. Also, once you get into a MS, you can automatically go to the HS that MS feed into.
yeah good luck with that. you need to show two months of utilities and pay stubs with a custodial parent's address (just registered my kid this year). that's some pretty serious fraud you'd be engaging in.
Serious fraud? Show where anyone has ever gotten in trouble for doing this.
Do you read the news? Here's a MD couple who got fined half a million dollars for sending their kids to DC schools. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/md-family-that-sent-kids-to-dc-public-schools-must-pay-more-than-500000-fine/2016/07/28/b7f3656c-54eb-11e6-b7de-dfe509430c39_story.html?utm_term=.0072068067b0
That is DC schools! It is well known that MCPS does not go after this.
There is a fraud hotline. http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/fraudhotline/ And if you think the Type A parents at already overcrowded W schools aren't going to report someone who is obviously living in Tenleytown, you're mistaken.
+100 If I know that someone is committing residency fraud, I am reporting it.
You can report it all you want, but it is incredibly difficult to prove where people live. The people who I know that do this have their utility bills sent to an in boundary address. But they live out of boundary. There is NO WAY MCPS can prove this. Impossible.
Nonsense. It's not impossible. Other states have done this with surveillance vehicles, and sometimes the parents just admit to it when asked (these are not highly sophisticated crime masterminds). It may not be an MCPS priority, but I predict it will become more of an issue in the future, as schools get so overcrowded and the MCPS planning for new schools continues to lag behind.
Hilarious! MCPS can barely fund enough Teachers. Our K classes have no side this year. I’m confident they will not be hiring surveillance vehicles to track down where Latlo and Larlita live. Especially when Larlo and Larlita’s parents don’t even speak English!
