Grew up with cats, but now firmly in the dog camp, courtesy of our first dog, adopted at 8 wks, now adored at age 6. However, he's a TON of work--a large working breed that needs a lot of exercise and interaction. We also have a young child and work FT, so stretched thin. Hmm... If I had to choose, I guess I'd say a cat for the early years of child-rearing, but a dog any other time.[/quote]
