What is wrong with you OP? I grew up with a SAHM and I really wish I hadn't. She left a high flying job to do it and seemed so bored, all the time. I think it gave me a very poor idea of what womanhood meant- suffering and ennui.
Yeah. My mom gave up a career to be a SAHM and I think it would have been better for her in so many ways if she had continued to work. It's really sad that women feel this pressure to constantly be around their kids, when it's not necessary. They REALLY do fine with other caretakers or not having mom doting over them 24/7.
My mom worked. The difference between her personality now and my mother in law who never worked is astounding. And it's not just my MIL- almost of the ones I know that quit their careers ended up being narcissists and alcoholics. And the way they treat their husbands is abysmal. My mom is amazing- loving and the perfect grandparent. My MIL has never taken our kids for a weekend. And my mom does it all the time. My aunt was a SAHM and hates her grandchildren but loves her bourbon. The ones that make the SAHM thing a detour in life turn out a lot better. My population sample is only about 20 or so, but for those of you getting triggered- there is a reason for it- it rings a little bell of truth.
