Yeah.  My mom gave up a career to be a SAHM and I think it would have been better for her in so many ways if she had continued to work.  It's really sad that women feel this pressure to constantly be around their kids, when it's not necessary.  They REALLY do fine with other caretakers or not having mom doting over them 24/7. +1.  My mom is was like the smartest and hardest working in her college class (as I found out decades later when I went to her college reunion).  When I was growing up she was driving herself nuts by obsessing over eradicating every speck of dirt from our house and having a perf ft organizational system.  She's like one of those shepherding dogs kept as a pet--they start herding the dust bunnies just to have an outlet for their worker bee drive.  My mom and I get along great, by the way.  I don't think either of us resents the other.  But it did make me always want to make sure I had something to work on other than my house![/quote]
