I am guessing that in your hometown someone showed up inone of those skanky trashy homecoming dresses that look like a stripper picked it out. As I tell my kids, stupid school rules are usually the result of A) someone's really stupid action B) Someone getting hurt C) A pita complaining or D) a combination of the three.
Stupid school rules are the result of school administrators making stupid rules. School administrators were not forced to make this rule. A skimpy dress is a skimpy dress, not a gun to the head.
Yup. You could just publish a list of rules, and tell anyone that if their clothing violates the rules they won't be allowed in. Preclearing everyone's dress is stupid and unnecessary.
My mother works at a high school that did what you suggested. Girls showed up in dresses that they knew weren't allowed. One girl had a 2 piece outfit that was clearly in violation because her entire midriff was exposed, plus some, and was denied entry. She called her mother who showed up and made a huge scene and the police were called. I think administrators are trying to prescreen clothing so that the fight can happen before the event rather than AT the event.
