As an atheist, religion simply isn't a part of my life. I don't attend an "atheist church," my friend's and I don't get together to discuss "atheist writings," and, when under stress or having problems I don't pray to the absence of a deity.

As far as anyone else's beliefs are concerned, the only time it's an issue for me is when certain groups try to legislate their religious beliefs or discriminate based on religion.

If you believe in a deity and you tell me that you're praying for me, I'll say thank you because I understand that you're taking your time and energy to do something that you believe is important for me.

If I invite you to do something on a Sunday morning and you say you can't because you're going to church, I won't mock you for it because it's your time and you get to choose how to spend it.

If you try to convert me to your religion, I'll say, "No thanks." If you insist on ignoring the fact that I said no, then I'll treat you they same way I would someone else who's being rude enough to ignore a polite refusal. I'm not going to argue with you about your religion unless you make it an issue, because your religious beliefs are your choice. [/quote]
