The demonstration isn't coming from the UVa community, it's outside people coming onto campus to demonstrate. I think UVa is in the unfortunate position of being in a state where the politics are especially ripe for this sort of thing (red state turned purple because of the influx of Democrats into the state, conservatives feel like they're losing their state), and UVa is a flashpoint because there's so much old symbolism on the campus that calls to the white nationalists/white supremacists/miscellaneous bigots, but the area has become increasingly liberal so there's more of a push now to remove that symbolism.[/quote]

If you say that the state is home to a bunch of hillbilly rednecks with far right tendencies and UVA draws the majority of its student body from said state then it is entirely relevant.  Or do you think they only admit the same and decent Virginians?  Based on recent events I'd say they admit a representative sample.[/quote]The organizer of the demonstration is a white nationalist, Jason Kessler.  He graduated from the University of Virginia and lives in Charlottesville.  Unfortunately, the apple didn't fall far from the tree.  Granted, one rotten apple does not reflect the entire student body, just as UPenn graduate Donald Trump does not reflect the intellect of the the entire student body.[/quote]
