++++++++++++ Disinterested observer here. At what point do American Muslims, who may have been born here, so identify with Western ways, and in practice distance themselves from what Islam calls you to do (for example, the Five Pillars) that you are Muslim in name only? If that is the case, if your behavior is indistinguishable from your secular humanist friends, why not end the charade by leaving Islam?
Why not end the charade that is Christianity? Nice attempted deflection. It isn't the belief system that's the charade. It's the pretense people who haven't the integrity to practice what they preach who are the charade. One needs to be deeply uninformed about Islam and Western culture to think they're identical. That they value the same things. If a Muslim who chooses to live in the West and has adapted Western values so identifies with the West, why not leave Islam? I doubt an enraged Salafist would decapitate anyone in suburban DC. When you speak of "it's a cultural thing," Islam at its root is a nomadic pre-literate Bedouin Arab culture that advanced itself by Jihad. It acquired the civilizational advantages of Roman/Greco Christian "Byzantium" and Zoroastrian Persia, both cultures orders of magnitude more advanced than theirs, by ** conquest. ** Now wait for the apologist "scholarship" deluge.
