Im abnormally obsessed with smoking meat. I've gone as far as going to a few competitions, including Memphis in May and i gotta say that thr WSM is a huge competition winner. Rarely do you even see a BGE. Amaxing ribs.com is the best resource for these type of questions.
Hauling around a BGE to competitions would be silly, even without taking into account the risk of damage. That's not what it's made for. It would be like bringing a Bentley to a road racing circuit like Lime Rock. Most serious competitors on the circuit have a dedicated smoking rig.
Exactly. Plus a WSM is nowhere near as versatile as a BGE. WSM is a great smoker for the occasional weekend warrior, but it's not a match all-in for the BGE.
I have both and hands down use my WSM for smoking and my BGE for grilling. Quite honestly the BGE was a waste of money for me. Kind of a pain in the ass.
Sorry you couldn't figure it out ?
What makes you think i couldnt figure it out? It's not rocket science.
Hey Rocket Science - I am sure you could figure it out... ...if you are the type to have a spreadsheet that records temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, type of coals, amount of coal, air flow, time of day, sun angle, moisture content of meat, type of meat, and a few variables that only you think are important and are willing to have literal knock down fights over it, and you do that like 5x a month then you are ALL OVER IT. That is "rocket science" for those folks who love the art of cooking in this way. Of course, most of us just want to come home from day jobs and have fun. So - which are you? In the meantime, I hope everyone is buying some sweet AllBirds and Hybridizers. PS - this is my first angry post on DCUM - how did I do? Was it too obviously passive-aggressive? Should I just have asked about the PP SES?
You sound incoherent and possibly drunk. You are wayyy to emotionally invested in the BGE. Maybe a new hobby?
