Hauling around a BGE to competitions would be silly, even without taking into account the risk of damage.  That's not what it's made for.  It would be like bringing a Bentley to a road racing circuit like Lime Rock.  Most serious competitors on the circuit have a dedicated smoking rig.  [/quote]

Exactly. Plus a WSM is nowhere near as versatile as a BGE.  WSM is a great smoker for the occasional weekend warrior, but it's not a match all-in for the BGE. [/quote]

I have both and hands down use my WSM for smoking and my BGE for grilling. Quite honestly the BGE was a waste of money for me. Kind of a pain in the ass.[/quote]
