The principal it very well-regarded. She won one of the coveted Reubenstein principal awards a few years ago.
+1 My kids are at a nearby school, and when I've had the chance to meet Truesdell's principal she's had her stuff together.
Same. They also turned out in force for the Ward 4 forum with Chancellor Wilson.
Then it sounds like all this school needs is a group of neighborhood parents to form a PTO and get involved.
Do we know if the school has a PTO? We are in-bound for Truesdell and will likely send our son there in 2019!
The school's DCPS school profile page says it does. They don't have a website, but they do have a Facebook page and a Twitter account. https://www.facebook.com/truesdellec/
They do not have an active PTO. Be prepared for opposition. There is strength in parent voice and numbers.
Who would oppose it? The principal seems pretty open to parents.
On your next school visit, talk to some of the teachers. The majority of the staff is comprised of young inexperienced teachers. Teachers who fall in line, and who are afraid to speak up. Also, notice the turnover of teachers.
