[/quote] that doesn't mean its not safe? its a small enough island no real way to get lost...if you make a wrong a turn you eventially get back to where you started.. rented cars twice. for a total of 3.5 weeks on the island. never had any problems or saw any bad accidents. had a flat tire once but no big deal. the east side is flatter drier while the west side is more tropical, mountainous and curvy. its no worse than costa rica, or colombia, mexico.
