Krav Maga was designed by a small guy specifically for the purpose of getting away - not vanquishing an opponent - but getting away alive. Since every woman in Israel has to serve in the army, it's been a very effective tool. Let me tell you, I]ve traveled the world and no one messes with an Israeli, man or woman. They just have the look that they can defend themselves. Krav Maga is truly awesome. I've taken it and my 12 year old daughter is going to take it this summer. The only place I know is in Chevy Chase, MD. I took it when it was offered downtown, but I'm not sure it's there anymore. I think the JCC on 16th used to also offer it.
You're right. This is the only place I found. They do offer classes for kids! But, we're a little far from Chevy Chase. http://kravmd.com/classes/Kids-Krav-Maga
OP, I would call the studio in Chevy Chase & ask to speak with the owner. Most of these guys know each other from different local shows, competitions, fitness conventions etc. If you tell the owner that you're very interested, but live far away from CC in (name town here), he may be able to put you in touch with someone more local to you that he knows. Some of these guys will do private lessons too, like of you can guarantee him 10 people, they'll come to a local studio, gym, YMCA & rent out an hour in their location. Calling another highly respected instructor & asking him if he knows anyone more local to you would probably be your best bet in yielding positive results. Most people take action AFTER an attack on themselves or their children, so I commend you for doing such a great job at being proactive. Thanks to you, they'll be ready if God forbid they ever need it.
