3rd grade - zero and zero planned. In general, kids have very few field trips until 4th grade. Our experience has been zero field trips in 1st and 3rd. My older kids just visited Strathmore in 2nd. My youngest had one additional. W schools definitely don't get more than others.
Why is that? When I was an MCPS student we took at least two trips every year in elementary.
Because class sizes are HUGE in MCPS now! It's so much harder to find a venue that will take 100 kids then maybe 40 or so (from when we were in school). Sometimes our school will split up the 6 classes and do 3 at a time on the field trip, but that is still over 60 kids. Also, there is so much emphasis on testing and assessments, that any time out of the classroom is considered a negative.
