If it is true that Hunter was already separated from Kathleen when he became romantically involved with Hallie then his relationship with Hallie was not the reason for the split & it's not really accurate to say that he left his wife for his brother's widow.

As for Hunter's kids, how do you know he "left" them? For all we know, his wife could have initiated the separation. And regardless of whose decision it was to separate, the fact that he is no longer with his kids' mother does not automatically mean he is an absentee father. Plenty of separated/divorced fathers continue to be active & involved parents, especially now that 50/50 custody arrangements have become the norm.[/quote]

You really can't see why this would be awful for his kids? If the relationship becomes permanent, he will be with his own kids (hopefully) 50% of the time but his nephews 100% of the time. You don't see how his own kids will feel slighted in favor of their cousins? These won't be a strangers kids.[/quote]
