My ILs are not from here and from what I can gather, the notion of a "marital bed(room)" is literally foreign to them so when they visit, they don't knock before entering our bedroom. Our daughter was young and sleeping in our room. When the baby would awake, she'd announce herself, and if I didn't rush to pick the baby up, MIL was promptly walking into our bedroom to take the baby. When she walked in on me changing for the third time, I screamed "why is this still happening?" and she turned around. I went downstairs, apologized for screaming, and explained that in the mornings, I tend to change my clothes and get dressed for the day, so it's best to knock.
Does your bedroom door not have a lock? And/or why didn't you ask her to knock before entering the first time it happened?
The kids' room adjoins ours. Our room locks, but their's doesn't. So she just used the other door when we locked ours. I did ask her to knock the first time. I had DH reinforce the concept the second time. It's just literally such a foreign concept to my MIL that she wouldn't have 24/7 access to her son's space that it took a bit of a jolt to get her attention on the matter.
I was thinking it was just a MIL boundaries issue until SIL & her husband came to visit. They also did not knock. That really shocked me. My no-blood relation brother-in-law was coming & going without knocking - - - at one point, I was like "um, I have no pants - could we try knocking?"
 I.Could.Not.Deal.With.That.
