I am so sick of this argument. Needing or wanting a police officer in one situation does not mean they get carte blanche to be murderers and other  situations. I need my priest for Spiritual reasons. However, my need for his Counseling doesn't negate the fact that he shouldn't be molesting children.

I don't ignore or excuse the food companies for sickening people with E.coli just because I need food. You need to stop expecting so little of police. Or saying they can basically get away with anything and people shouldn't have a bad opinion of them because we need them on some occasions. It's a fucking stupid argument

I teach on a college campus and I see all sorts of uniforms day in and day out. I know that some of these people are in fact armed. I can accept that. I don't think the general College populace needs to be armed though. I've seen too many situations that could have escalated way further in the presence of a firearm[/quote]
