Because there is zero plan for the nitty gritty political change that needs to happen for real regime change. There is no shadow government in waiting. The Iranian people that oppose the regime are unarmed and unorganized. It's suicide to take to the streets now. I suspect most will be fine with a much more moderate government and call it a day. Especially given the alternative of civil war between Persians, Azeris, Kurds, and religious extremists.

But looking at Israel in Lebanon, they clearly mean to take southern Lebanon and expel millions of people. If the US sticks around, we will be enabling Israeli fanaticism and the destruction of Lebanon while correspondingly ensuring the collapse of Iran into chaos and mass violence.

Which is not a good look for the US. We will be paying for that mistake for decades. So hopefully Trump declares victory in the next couple of weeks and ends this. Because it is madness to continue. [/quote]
