Langley still has a chance even against Madison
langley had there shot and couldnt get it done when it counted, obviously just not a playoff team, chantilly is gonna give them a handful
Just curious here. I see the posts about Langley and Indy getting a loss in district, but yet they still qualify for regionals. If you are still IN you still have a shot. The road may be longer, but if you lose, lose when it does not count. I would be very careful about writing off teams that get the "bad game" out of the system when there is nothing on the line-
District championship was on the line. Those matter too. Get a banner in the gym for that. Lacrosse in this area is somewhat unique (especially in 6A) because it’s pretty much a given that the state champion will come from one particular area, the proverbial “Nova”. Might just be a product of the forum here and the focus on who is best in the state/rankings/etc in our collective conversation but let’s have some perspective on what success can also be - winning your district. That means something.
It matters - but not as much. In 2022, Madison lost the region to Yorktown but still won States. People remember that Madison won three consecutive State championships. No one really cares that they lost in regionals. Similarly, if a college basketball team loses in their conference championship game but goes on to win a national title, that is what matters. UNC has done that four times.
All of this is true for sure. That said, it certainly matters to the teams who win them. You can't tell Yorktown that win didn't matter Wednesday night and they will always have a banner for their 2022 Northern Region Championship. Madison absolutely has a BETTER banner from that year but to my earlier point, these games count and mean a lot to the teams who win. It's not up for debate whether a State Championship means more than the Liberty District, Patriot District, Northern Region, whatever - but it means so much in those moments to bring home the title and take a celebratory team picture with the banner. Good lacrosse ahead! Plenty of great games coming up these next few weeks and exciting to see what happens.
