When layoffs push profits north, when inflation push profits north, those are bad for the economy. Shrinking GDP, higher inflation, higher unemployment, etc are some of the indicators of economic health. So, no, the only test of the capital markets is corporate profitability.[/quote] The high stock market is a sign of inflation, and loss of value if the dollar.
