Like PP, I was also remembering Eric Rudolph—he hid for years! And think of all the women who are killed and their bodies never found or found many years later. Not because their killers are criminal masterminds—it’s just hard to find dead bodies in nature unless you know right where to look. It took a year to find Chaundra levy’s body and that was an urban park with comparatively high traffic and a decent sense of where she had gone. All he did was toss her down a hill.
That area where she was located off Brandywine isn’t heavily trafficked as other parts of the park I would say which is likely why it took some time. Though I suppose vultures could’ve signaled that there was a need to search there. But there has also been a woman missing ( I believe her killer admitted to dumping her actually) in Fort Washington for decades and multiple searches of the wooded areas have never found her.
