More evidence suggesting that Iran did not shoot down the Apache. The Pentagon claims the AH-64 was shot down by an Iranian Shahed drone That's impossible. A Shahed is ground to ground. Not ground to air. It's very slow- an Apache could easily outmaneuver it. It flies to GPS coordinates- not optically guided. Who would benefit from shooting down the Apache??
I know nothing about this equipment but is it at all possible the missle was aimed at a ground target and the Apache accidentally got on the way? Considering a military helicopter got in the way of a commercial airliner not that long ago, it seems possible?
NP $85 - $100M weapon system taken down by a $35K drone? Yeah, I don’t think so.
Sources say the helicopter was grazed by a drone not targeted
Hardly believable. Those drones are super slow and have basically lawn mower engines. They only cost a few thousand to make. No way an Apache would get hit. This sounds just like another cover story similar to the downed pilot and failed nuclear retrieval attempt.
They use Apaches as the primary means of shooting down drones. All the “friendly” gulf states have apaches and use them on drones.
The UAE showed that its AH-64 Apaches and F-16s are actively flying in the counter-drone role, tackling Iranian drones before they can reach their targets. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) released on Mar. 8, 2026, a video showing footage from an electro-optical system of eight Iranian Shahed-type One-Way Attack (OWA) drones being shot down. Based on the sound of the typically slow rate of fire, acknowledgements of “target destroyed” by one of the crew and airborne position of the engaging platform, we have concluded these are AH-64 Apache attack helicopters employing their chin-mounted M230 30 mm chain gun.
https://theaviationist.com/2026/03/10/uae-ah-64-apaches-counter-drone/ From AI Yes, Apache attack helicopters are actively used both to shoot down drones and, conversely, have become targets of drone attacks themselves. While the Boeing AH-64 Apache was originally built to hunt tanks, modern warfare has rapidly transformed it into a primary platform for counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) due to its matching speed profile and versatile weapon loadouts It would not take much work to replace the bomb load(110 pounds) of a Shahed drone for 3ea 9K333 Verba. Mix a few drones equipped with man portable anti aircraft missiles(9K333 Verba) and you could take out Apaches and f-16. Specially at night when they are targeting with radar.
