Iran’s Mehr news agency publishes the purported text of the draft agreement with Trump. It will keep the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian control, will promise Iran $300 billion in reconstruction money in addition to an immediate cash transfer of $24 billion, a suspension of sanctions and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Middle East. Also, a commitment not to bother Iran again about its missiles and proxies, and restraining Israel in Lebanon Art of the deal, right?
US oil companies must love this! With Iran controlling the Strait US companies will make bank. And US consumers get to pay more. Winning!
Yeah I don’t know about that. Iran could charge $5 a barrel to transit the strait. Oil cost the $6-$15 a barrel to produce in the gulf. That money will be paid by the producers or shippers and will not impact the final sale price because that is set on the world market. This would cost the US consumer nothing. The Israel-US war with Iran cost American taxpayers 245 billion in military expenditure and the American consumer $81 billion in increase gas cost plus 54-106% increase in cost of goods shipped. Anyone in their right mind would take the first option.
