They take kids for political reasons in a lot of instances (not all) and early developers and pass on kids that may have stronger long term potential than short term potential. They do this because DCU isn't about developing professional players. It is a three/four year system and there is no second team available at DCU to develop further which puts them in a category as the only team in the MLS to not have a second team for their academy players. The ONLY MLS team to operate this way. if you're genuinely serious about your son becoming a professional footballer, DCU cannot be a realistic option. He just won't have the same development opportunities as other, better academies in the country. DCU is just another pathway to college soccer. At best.
