At 10 I was babysitting my brother and sister (who is 7 years younger). By the time I was 12 I was babysitting for neighbors and 13 when I started looking after infants as well. I will admit I was VERY mature at a very young age (my mom always says she would've be comfortable sending me to college when I hit 10).

Since DD is still so young no idea when we will leave her alone in the house for the first time, definitely not for a while. Kids running through traffic after a dog in what people are guessing is an unfamiliar area (my family has been going to the same DE beach since before I was born, my brother and I knew the area very well at 8/9) isn't good. I don't think the parents should be arrested, but can you even fine them for something like that?[/quote]
