NP-I disagree. Which was it: she admired him being resilient in the face of trauma and obstacles, or she hated him all along because he was a liar? She tried to have it both way at the wedding, and it did not make sense she'd even go there at all if he was so horrible. She clearly was hoping for "her moment" and seemed so gleeful afterwards like she thought she came off great, but she did not since he just stood there and took most of it pretty calmly. And to be clear I don't like Alex so this isn't me defending him at all, but it felt very staged and silly.[/quote]

Agree, she and her father seemed gleeful and had clearly planned this before.  "You got this, you're Ashley Carpenter!" Gag.

Alex is a horrible partner, lies all the time. But it's clear he has lots of trauma and lying to whomever and being who they want is his defense mechanism. Doesn't mean Ashley has to put up with that, but she saw through it early on and then just stuck with it in order to do her wedding speech. She did not come off great either. It's not like something horrible happened the day before to change her mind or something. [/quote]
