MOCO has a huge problem. Conservatives see an in and they are coming for the county. BOE elections tell us this. Crazy shitty Brenda Diaz got too many votes last time. And now Ricki Mui is trying again at something. Even Mandel the insane got votes which is horrifying. And now there are others who think they can hide who they are. Do your research people. Stay away from Moderately Montgomery they are RW drivel with anyone else they promote. They try to hide it with word salad like Esther Wells again another MAGA stupid. MAGA is growing in MOCO because everyone else is lethargic and thinks if they have money none of this affects them. Democratic party in MOCO has major issues. Well Hobby Lobby would not be coming here if they did not think it was finally time to take over. It is a sign the county is going the wrong way. Wake the hell up Moms4Liberty is coming for your schools and believe me the evidence is glaring Republicans/conservatives take over a county or a state it dies. The Evidence is in every red state in this country.
I’ll say this. I’m not voting Republican bc MAGA is a destructive force and undermines democracy and well being in this country. But I sure as heck won’t be voting for any “progressive” in MoCo who isn’t getting good paying professional jobs into the county, is selling out middle class SFH neighborhoods to developers, and who isn’t making common sense decisions about county resources and tax revenue (eg., stop tax giveaways to for-profit developers and banks).
The only way to get those jobs is to fix the schools. I am not talking about a few small businesses. To get thousands of well-paid jobs, you need fortune 500 companies. And their biggest criteria: -well educated community -affordable housing and decent commute for their employees -excellent schools for their employees children Montgomery County currently has 1 of 3. If we dont address the other 2, it's only going to get worse
I agree with you about the importance of schools. But I think the county could do more to promote businesses coming here. Look at NoVa - over the last 20 years businesses, including multiple Fortune 500 companies but also smaller but healthy businesses, have set up shop in NoVa. In MoCo it’s been drip, drip, drip and many businesses have actually left the county. We couldn’t even secure a replacement for Discovery in SS, which was a prime location for a business at the time. As a tax payer I’d much rather subsidize corporations who commit to the county and offer professional, high paying jobs, versus subsidizing these real estate developers who sap resources and just add to the decline of infrastructure while building condos that they sell for $$$. But that is where the council is focused. Who do they think is going to buy these condos?!?
