They're acceptable because most people don't think about what they're saying. They're sheep saying "Baah." If it becomes popular to say "Baaaaaaah" then they say "Baaaaaaah" too.  "I couldn't care less" is the only choice that makes sense if you are trying to say you already care as little as is it is possible to care. You could not care any less. "I could care less" means you care more than someone who couldn't care less. It's not complicated. Four legs good, two legs bad, bah bah.[/quote]
