I'm hoping this forces "OPM" to close some of the loopholes and make it a real offer. Things like clarifying payments will happen, more limited waiver, etc.
Again for the people in back. IT DOESN’T MATTER. It’s illegal to promise money not appropriated. And we are under a CR until 3/14. No matter how many loopholes they close, it’s not real until Congress says it is. Separation of powers? Congress has the power of the purse? Sad how many feds would fail a civic 101 exam.
+1 And Congress is probably not going to appropriate funds for people to sit around and do nothing for 8 months. Can you imagine how well that would go over back home? Case in point, my family back home has no idea this has been going on for week. I explained the deferred resignation thing to my brother (conservative but not MAGA) and he was like excuse me....WHAT? I told him about the "take a vacation" language, and I thought his head was going to explode. Fun times.
THIS congress would - because it is in the hands of a bunch of Republicans who are not going to interfere with their leader's efforts. And democrats are not going to let the federal workers get stiffed.
Uh, how dumb can you be? The Republicans who are so fine and upstanding they are allowing all kinds of laws to be broken? Who are standing by while their own powers as members of Congress are being stomped to the ground? Those Republicans? I’m a lifelong Democrat but one thing I hare about some who share my party affiliation is this idea that government should rescue you from your own stupidity. If federal workers sign onto something that is illegal and believe leaders who have a track record of not honoring contracts, then they should expect to pay for their stupidity. Read the Fork contracts. The TLDR version says you acknowledge that you have no recourse if they don’t keep their word. What kind of moron signs off on a deal like that????
