I can’t believe someone started a thread asking why immigration is a huge issue in this race. It boggles the mind that someone can’t understand why such a huge task of the federal government would be a concern to voters. Are DC liberals this out of touch with the mainstream?!
Not in DC. Where is it that you live that you are personally so affected?
Alexandria, Virginia. Illegal immigrants (and those brought here under the admins insane TPS programs) have degraded this City and is crushing our public services and infrastructure. But, I agree that DC proper’s abject failure to address crime by US citizens personally affects more people in DC than the illegal immigrant invasion.
How has it affected you?
I have children in public schools which are overcrowded and unable to educate. The district stupidly chooses to allow 22 year old ELL students to go to high school. So my 14 year old sophomore girl is in gym class with a 22 year old. My car insurance rates are increasing. Access to medical care is diminished and long waits at the ER. There was a body found in our local playground a few years back - gang related. The number of cars parked on residential streets is insane. I can go on. Again - the City’s lack of governance is the heart of the problem, but the continuous stream of people exacerbates it.

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/18/us/politics/trump-immigration-fact-check.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare Facts are so inconvenient, aren’t they?
Did you actually read the article? It also does not address class sizes and ELL populations at public schools. I live a quarter mile from Arlandria. I know what I see with my own two eyes every. single. day.
Yes, did you? The point is that there is a trend- supported by bigots like you- to blame every social ill on immigrants. And these claims are misleading and/or outright lies
Illegal immigrants invading this country are a scourge. 58% of the country agrees and wants mass deportation. I hope the liberal, progressive bubble you must live in isolates you from us bigots.
No one with an IQ above 90 wants "mass deportation". We want our government to step up to the plate and secure the border. It doesn't matter how it's secured- with a fully constructed wall, manpower, or stopping those without pre-authorized entry before they make the trek to the border. Just do it. Once the obvious first step is completed, we can focus on thorough immigration reform that provides a pathway for equitable and legal immigration from all around the world that will be encouraged and welcomed by the current legal residents of the US. The truth is, our GOP politicians don't want this border problem solved because it is an effective wedge issue that helps to keep their sheep in line and the Dem politicians don't want to resolve the border issue because they see future new voters with every new person they allow to enter the country. It's all smoke in mirrors and the GOP and Dem voters are pawns in their political game.
