Non-school bureaucrats are always trying to justify their jobs by coming up with the "new" thing.  Standards based grading is an old concept from the '80's and '90's.  It's being recycled in a new package.  Eventually going back to all classes everyday will become a new trend and FCPS will do that and try to convince everyone that block schedule was a mistake.[/quote]

I grew up here and there was definitely no SBG.  Just traditional grades that made sense to everyone.  And quizzes were handed back so students could use them to study for upcoming tests.  [/quote]

And not just quizzes to be able to study for upcoming tests, but stop the odd practice of working on study guides that have to be turned in before the test so another that cannot use to study weekend before/nights before test. If kids could use their phones would tell them to take photos of it before come home. Instead, pull up those Google slide presentations! So strange.[/quote]
