If you want MAGA policies, by all means vote for Larry Hogan because that’s what you’ll be getting.  Just don’t delude yourself into thinking that putting Larry Hogan in the U.S. Senate for 6 years will lead to more moderate legislation or SC justices.  It won’t.  Being a senator is nothing like being a governor.[/quote]

Larry Hogan signs up with Team Republican.  Team Republican pushes the MAGA agenda.  Larry Hogan always provides the deciding votes if/when his votes are needed.  Larry Hogan only becomes “moderate” when his vote is not needed.[/quote]
What are you talking about? Making deciding votes in favor of MAGA policies is exactly the opposite of what Hogan is campaigning on. You say that caucusing is enough but cannot explain what that means in practical terms. [/quote]

Please disregard whatever Larry Hogan is saying on the campaign trail right now to appear more moderate and get your vote.  It doesn’t mean anything.  Don’t kid yourself.  If Trump wins, he will be calling the shots.  Not Larry Hogan.  And Hogan will do as he is told when his votes are needed.  That’s just reality.[/quote]

I disagree.  I think Hogan has realized that this dream of presidency or beyond won't happen.  He's handcuffed to Maryland.  And there's nothing a moderate democrat from MD loves more than seeing a republican stand up to Trump.

He's 100% going to win.  But I also have some faith that he'll stay true to how he's acted for the last 8 years and not be afraid of Trump[/quote]

I don’t know.  Trump lost Maryland by 33 points in 2020 and David Trone (most likely) will be a tough matchup.  Suburban Maryland voters are savvy.  They understand the difference between a governor and senator.  And Hogan absolutely cannot win without them.  Despite his name recognition, this will be an uphill climb for Hogan.[/quote]
Hogan won western Montgomery County in both elections. Suburban MD voters know what they are getting in Hogan and have no problem voting for him. But also, the state is much bigger than DC suburbs and I don’t think Trone can best Hogan in Baltimore County, Westminster, Eastern Shore, etc. Alsobrooks has absolutely zero chance.[/quote]

Voting for governor and voting for senator are not the same thing, and voters understand this.  That’s why you so often see Democratic governors in states that Biden wouldn’t have a chance in hell of winning.  But we’ll see.[/quote]
+1 I may have posted this earlier but Hogan will have similar results to Steve Bullock in Montana and Phil Bredesen in Tennessee, both very popular governors in the opposite party of what their states usually do, who then ran for Senate and lost. Voters are smart.[/quote]

Very good point about Phil Bredesen.  He won reelection as governor in 2006 with 69% of the vote and then lost the race for senate in 2018 by over 10 points.  That’s a 50-point swing.  And 2018 was a blue wave election.[/quote]
