There are so many layers to it.  For one, being conditioned for decades to consider anything and everything reported by mainstream media to be a left-wing lie  (to the point where that's even now backfiring on FOX News as a lot of MAGAs don't trust FOX anymore, either.  And even before they turned on FOX News they were being programmed by "trusted" sources who were cynical grifters like Sean Hannity, and some woho are no longer among us like Rush Limbaugh - who lied to them and fed into their confirmation bias and their paranoia and their Dunning Kruger echo chamber.   They are basically rudderless, falling down endless rabbit holes of online garbage.[/quote]
