McCarthy didn’t put the Continuing Resolution on the floor as a favor or concession to Democrats. He did it because he and his caucus had painted themselves into a corner again and were being blamed and ridiculed by everyone for less than doing nothing to prevent the impending government shutdown, while the Senate had a bipartisan 45-day Continuing Resolution that would pass the House if he allowed a vote on it. He had no plan, so he caved and put his own CR with less stuff than the Senate bill to a vote to buy time until his next self-inflicted crisis. Democrats don’t owe McCarthy anything. He’s incompetent.
Sadly for the country, the GOP will not simply take the bi-partisan Senate bill and pass it in the House to keep our government functional for the next year. They will force a shutdown and receive all of the same ridicule, but it will happen closer to the holidays when air traffic controllers have more leverage for a sick-out in protest. Our borders will actually be open because DHS won't be there to watch over it. Our troops will be working without pay, the military support staff will be furloughed etc.
